A “cascading effect” is a potentially significant and sometimes unforeseen sequence of events that affects a system or system-of-systems. Unlike the impact that may be created within a system’s topography by cutting or destroying individual links and nodes, a cascading effect may be initiated by seemingly minor events that then cascade through the system, gaining momentum and influence as they propagate. In this way, one might effectively achieve a “mission kill” by creating myriad but perhaps marginal effects on an adversary system-of-systems rather than delivering a decisive blow to a few key points.
Cascading Effects LLC provides defense, intelligence, and industry clients with geopolitical insights and intelligence solutions to address emerging challenges and threats to policy, operations and complex systems.
